I would like this page:
bensonllc.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=55

to look like this in the browser bar:
bensonllc.com/about-us

I've tried a bunch of things, having read various solutions to others on your website and in your documentation. Currently I have:
FROM URL: /index.php/?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=55
TO URL: bensonllc.com/about-us

Problem is, it takes you to the home page on the website, not the "about us" page.
For the time being, I have disabled the plug-in.
Can you help this obvious novice??

just create an item as follow:



Note that there's a little problem with you wish: "to look like this in the browser bar:".

With the 301 redirect, when the user call the shot URL he get redirected to the final destination. SO, the user can notice the change. If you need to hide the destination URL, you should use the 200 internal redirect, available in the Enterprise version.

I have a choice of 200 redirect and entered the code you have so kindly provided and changed the redirect to "200 internal redirect". If one clicks on the button on the menu bar, though, the browser is still the long form (ugly) page name, not the nice short one.
