Does ReDJ require Apache as the server? 14 Anni fa #1678

I have a Virtual Private Server and have gotten tired of Apache crashing it because of all the resources it uses. Because of that I am testing a new server that is using Cherokee for the web server. It does not support the Apache mod_rewrite which means that I cannot get the Joomla SEF to work. I downloaded ReDJ and gave it a bit of a try but don't seem to be able to get it running. Does ReDJ require the use of Apache or is there something that needs to be done to set things up to work with a non-Apache web server?

Hi,
let me say that ReDJ doesn't need Apache, it works using the same server variables as Joomla do (e.g. REQUEST_URI).

Could you please, tell me what you aren't able to do? I could help you.

Regards,
Luigi

I installed the extension as instructed and did activate it in the plug-ins. I then added a url to be redirected. When I put in the old url one of 3 things happen depending on how I set up the server.

1. If no error handler is set up within the cherokee web server what returns is a 404 error.

2. If I set up a 404 error handler to redirect like /index.php/$1 I get the message No input file specified.

3. If I put in an redirect error handler on the web server for a 404 error of /index.php the home page of the web site is served.

I can see that the problem seems to be at the server, and I may not be getting my regex correct to redirect, because it is trying to find the page and since it does not it errors. For more information if I put SEF on in Joomla and try to run any link what I get is the content of a page but no template displayed.

Case number 3) is what you need, as stated here:

www.cherokee-project.com/doc/cookbook_joomla.html

When the error is passed to Joomla, than ReDJ can do the redirect work. So, put you server in case 3, and try to set a redirect with ReDJ. IF you have problem, I can help you (just if you trust). In this case send me a temporary account to your backend at info(at)sistemistica.it.

Luigi
