I'm trying to get 404 Error pages to work.

I first installed REDJ community edition, later the enterprise edition - but I don't seem to get the 404 error pages to work with either.

Here's what I did:

- Installed the extension
- Published the Plugin and set custom error 404 page to yes and entered an ID to an article in teh error 404 page ID field.
But I still get the standard joomla error page.

I also tried setting "redirect any error" to yes.
And I tried setting "use early redirect" to yes.

Both didn't help.

The only result I had was, that I got following error, when I set "redirect any error" to yes:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /srv/khw/htdocs/www2/plugins/system/jfdatabase/intercept.jdatabasemysql.php:77) in /srv/khw/htdocs/www2/plugins/system/redj.php on line 292

So I thought, that joomfish might be the problem.
Next I set all joomfish plugins (the router, the pro router and jfdatabase) to unpublished - just as a test.

When I do this, the error disappers, but I get a standard firefox error saying that "The page isn't redirecting properly".

I've added a text version of my .htaccess file (created by Akeeba Admin Tools).
But I also tried the standard joomla .htaccess file - didn't help either.

first thank you for Enterprise subscription.

About your questions:

1) The Error 404 page ID is not the article ID, but the ID of the item you have created in ReDJ Manager under Pages 404. Here you can find two existing items. I suggest to create a new one, and put this ID into plugin. If you need to show an article, inside this item you can use a macro to get the article content. That's all!

2) After the last ReDJ version, it works well with JoomFish (both COmmunity and Enterprise). The problem is related to plugin order. Usually, ReDJ should be the first system plugin, but with JoomFish this is not enough, so there's a plugin option "Early Redirect" that solve this problem with JoomFish, so you can leave ReDJ plugin as the third one (both JoomFish plugins can be left before, as 1st and 2nd).

So I just misunderstood.

Now it works.

But I still have the question, whether it is possible to redirect to a "normal" joomla page - so the user doesn't loose the possibility to navigate the page when he comes to the error page.

or do I have to use another component for that?

(I want to avoid using a big SEF component because I have found that constantly having to recreate SEF URLs is a pain in the ***) =

Maybe I don't get your question, but ReDJ was created to do redirection. The error page is only a "collateral effect".

So, if you send me source and tagert urls, I will tell you how to configure a redirect item.
