I used to use one catalogue component, but i decided to move to another. So, the structure of the catalogue remains the same, but all links are to be different.

I tried to carefully read your manual, but didn't get the idea if I could make redirects "en masse".

Could you please advise if it's possible to put redirects for the whole category with its content instead of making tons of redirects for all links.

Of course is possible,
you just need to paste here the new URL format. As examples, here you can find some posts on how to move a whole section/category.
