Plugin is installed and enabled.

I put the redirect in correctly as specified in the guide.

/admin/contact.asp

Needs to redirect to www.datastoragecorp.com/contact.html

when i do this, i get an object not found message. If i goto any other page (that does not exist) i get the normal joomla 404 error.

I tested this site on two different servers, one worked and the other didn't, so I am not exactly sure why.

Is there a specific php or mysql version needed to make this work?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Issue is when I goto an item url to redirect, it gives me an object not found page, see attachment screenshot. If i goto a page that doesn't exist and not in REDJ, i get the correct joomla 404 page, which should happen.

so something is not redirecting properly and I am pretty sure I made the item correct.

so if you goto www.datastoragecorp.com/admin/contact.asp, you can see the error that I am getting when it should redirect...

HI,
as you can see from your screenshot, the error message is provided directly by Apache web server. So, there's no way for Joomla! and ReDJ to catch and manage the call.

To solve this, just add:

ErrorDocument 404 /

At the end of your .htaccess file. This will tell to Apache to pass all the 404 errors to the site homepage.

I tried this, but then I for some wrong URLs got a joomla 500-message instead of Apache 404, and for some others, a joomla 404 instead of Apache 404. What can have been done wrong?

Not in a subfolder.

It seems the ErrorDocument is working well. Now you should be able to manage any redirection.

Thank you for your patience and helpfulness. You are right.
The ErrorDocument is working well.

It seems that the problem was that I hadn't enabled the "Redirect any error" and a destination URL in the component, and therefor I got a 500-error instead of 404 or my homepage.
