Hi Luigi,

Got a question about how the 301 permantly redirect working.

When i fill in a redirect for example:
oldfile.html perm redirect a 301 to http://{siteurl}/thenewfile.html

It redirects the old.html to the new url, and does his job perfect
But for SEO, how will it let the Search engines know their whas a 301 perm redirect? Will it create a file with the old.html and a 301 in the page headers code?
Because most of my moved 301 redirect doesnt excist anymore.

Will it redirected to the Existing URL with a 301 (Permanently Moved) HTTP status code, to keep search engines happy?

Kind regards

I checked it with a http header request site, and every page that has redirected gets the 301 header status. So it does everything on everyway it should be.
So i buyed just now ReDJ version Enterprise, because its worth it!!!

Can you maybe pls give me a good example why i should use 200 Redirection Internal instead of the 301 perm redirection?

Another question about 404 error page
When using error page in ReDJ it gives the standard error page in Red-White view, and dont show the error page in template like for example an article, but it gives the correct 404 header status.
So i use the redirect option in ReDJ plugin, to redirect every error to a custom made 404page, so it shows it nicly within my template. And this works fine. But gives the page a 200 ok status instead of a 404 not found status.

How can i show/edit this article trough ReDJ error pages. So that i can have my 404 header status, and still show my page within my template?

Hi,
configuration of internal redirect (200) is the same as 301. The difference is that Joomla remains on the old URL, so the browser doesn't receive a request to go to new URL (301).

This is useful if you want to create aliases (e.g. short URLs), or if you want to replace the content on a certain URL (e.g. show a different content on the page).

About the error page, you can use ReDJ to show a custom error page. First you should create it and there are two example of how you can do it. The English and Italian error pages are the same of Joomla, but both add the contact email. So, you can create your error page and also can include articles using supported macro.

After this, you should tell to ReDJ plugin tah you want to use it. Just add the id of your custom error page in the plugin settings. That's all.

Hi Luigi,

I have allot of new url changes.. So is it ok within SEO level to give them all 200 instead of the 301?
When i type the old url, it redirect me to the new url, and also changes auto in browser url-bar giving each page a 301 redirect.
So when i give those redirect all 200... then it would say to Search engines that the old link is ok.. isnt that bad?

About the error page, like i mentioned before, when im using the 404 error page in ReDJ, the problem is that it would not be within my template, but on a standard 1page red-white version. Instead of using the template looks and stuff. How can i make this work in my template, without the use of redirect in the plugin, because on this way i dont get 404 status in header

If URLs are "old" and you would like to drop them, it is preferable to use the 301 redirect in order to inform everyone (including search engines) that the pages have moved.

How can i make this work in my template, without the use of redirect in the plugin, because on this way i dont get 404 status in header

With ReDJ custom error page you can get the 404 error. All you need is to customize your error page. If you have already done this and can send me HTML I could create the ReDJ error page for you.

Best regards,
Luigi

So the 200 internal redirect is only be used when you want to fresh up an old looking long url to something short. for example: www.domain.com/index.php to www.domain.com

No,
it's wrong to say "www.domain.com/index.php to www.domain.com", because with 200 internal redirect the URL doesnìt change, www.domain.com/index.php still remain www.domain.com/index.php.

Your error page seems to work well. Can you confirm this?

This is how it should look, when i would know how to make it in the 404-error page of ReDJ. Its just a simple article file, that works under ReDJ plugin, to send every error to this page. But it dont gives me a 404 header status, and on this way it gives me allot of 404 pages in the backend when some components request some urls So this is not the right way to use it.

My question is, how can i make that page, same looks and working, in the page for example that english version

Cause when i use the code in the error page of ReDJ it looks like this, a red-white standard error single page, not within my template:

For a fast solution I need to check your ReDJ settings.

If you like, send me an email at info(at)sistemistica.it.
