I'm running a joomla 1.5.25 with joomla core sef enabled with .htaccess. I used sh404sef before but I switched it off because there were too many issues with it. Now I have urls like www.domain.com/home/category/item... but I don't want to have the word "home" in my urls at all. Its good for nothing at all and it produces tons of duplicate content. Is there a way to get rid of the word "home" in the url with 301-redirecting to the same url just wihtout "home" in it?

I also moved away from sh404sef and now I have a list of 1300 urls that need to be redirected. I read in the forum that you plan to integrate an import function but that it's not finished yet. I can export a textfile with the aliases from sh404sef but how can I get them into ReDj without poking them into the backend one by one?
Can I send you a csv with my redirections any you could make an sql-import file for me?

here is the problem with a ReDJ import/export feature, and why I've not implemented yet.

A ReDJ rule is a regular expression that can match more than a single URLs. So, ReDJ is not properly a one-by-one tool like Joomla 1.7 embedded Redirect. So a function to import Google errors is not so useful until I will not implement a special kind of rule, let me say, an exact match redirect, where I have a full old url and a full new url.

Meanwhile, for these cases I suggest to use Joomla Redirect. Users can prepare a list of old -> new url (e.g. excel sheet) and I can help to import into Redirect.

my problem is that we used to run joomla with CorePHPs Wordpress extension which is not suitable for our needs anymore since the site is growing too big for a blog component and the urls the component created were like www.domain.com/wordpress-id(numeric). These urls have no relation to Joomla at all. So we migrated all articles to Joomla (with Flexicontent as CCK) and in order not to loose Googles' indexed pages we need to map old urls to new ones.
I think in this case it might be better to write those redirections directly to the .htaccess file rather than installing yet another extension that handles 1:1 redirections. What do you think?

if you plan to install Joomla 1.7 or 2.5, you already have a native extension to manage one-on-one redirection (Redirect).

So, for your need I suggest you to prepare a table with a list of old URLs and for each one the new URL. Then you can import this into Redirect table. If you need help with this step, I could support you.

1.7 is still far away for us. We need to wait till Flexicontent is fully 1.7-compatible and stable so I think it'l last at least a year till we switch to 1.7

I understand, but there should be a "porting" of Joomla native Redirect to Joomla 1.5. You could use this...
