But since I have lots of 404 pages shown in webmasters tools I need to redirect all of them to the index.php I dont know jow to do that. I would like if its possible to redirect all 404 pages to the index. If you type www.mydomain.com/whatever can it still show index instead of 404? thanks

You can do what you want without using ReDJ, just ErrorDocument is needed:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.yoursite.com/index.php

As stated on Apache doc:

Note that when you specify an ErrorDocument that points to a remote URL (ie. anything with a method such as http in front of it), Apache will send a redirect to the client to tell it where to find the document, even if the document ends up being on the same server.
